Overview
The Activate Center translates research into practical resources for use by professionals and other adults who support young people experiencing the child welfare or justice system, homelessness, or disconnection from school and work. This compendium contains Activate research summaries and practice tools (e.g., infographics, conversation supports, Q&A resources, tip sheets, etc.) published through 2026. It is organized into five modules (each outlined below) that highlight key insights from the research and concrete strategies to support day-to-day practice with young people.
Compendium Modules
Module 1: Data and Data Use: Resources in Module 1 contain key data (and data collection guidance) related to sexual and reproductive health among adolescents and young adults experiencing homelessness, involvement with the child welfare system or justice system, or disconnection from school and work.
Module 2: Healthy Relationships: Resources in Module 2 provide practical guidance and conversation tools to help youth-supporting professionals discuss healthy relationships, consent, boundaries, communication, peer influence, and shared power with young people.
Module 3: Violence Prevention and Intervention: Resources in Module 3 offer research-informed guidance for professionals who work with young people at risk for experiencing workplace sex-based harassment, sex trafficking, and intimate partner violence.
Module 4: Pregnancy and Parenting: Resources in Module 4 address the unique experiences of young parents, with emphasis on young fathers and parenthood in the context of child welfare or justice system involvement.
Module 5: Sexual and Reproductive Health Care: Resources in Module 5 provide guidance to help young people understand options for contraception, along with detailed overviews of social determinants of health and other factors that influence youth access to sexual and reproductive health care.
