Overview
This guide introduces the concept of consent for sexual activity and highlights what youth-supporting professionals need to know to inform their work with young people. It is designed for professionals working with youth who have experienced the child welfare and/or juvenile justice systems, homelessness, or disconnection from school and work. Research indicates that these young people face higher rates of trauma than their peers, which can shape how consent is understood and communicated. To support clarity and compassion in practice, this guide draws on trauma-informed research and recommendations.
