Overview

Peer influence is a key factor that shapes youths’ decisions and actions around substance use, sexual activity, and outcomes such as teen pregnancy. This research synthesis describes the associations between substance use, peer influence, and unintended teen pregnancy. It is designed to provide youth-supporting professionals with the knowledge they need to encourage and support positive peer relationships and informed decision-making related to substance use and sexual activity.
